JOHNNY VOLTIK, aka THE ALPHA LOVE, is the future of music. Born in Bridgeport, CT, then mastering his art in Boston, MA, Johnny Voltik enters the New York metropolis to emerge as one of the most innovative Hip Hop/Indie Rock artist of our time. While previewing tracks from his first solo installment “The Red Album”, which is set to release in early April 2010, he describes his sound as “rising out of the ashes of popular and underground music.”

It is a blend of hip-hop, dynamic indie rock and psychedelic R&B. In his first single entitled “Do U?” Voltik displays his genius song writing ability. Characterized by a poly-rhythmic dance beat, an extremely catchy hook sang in falsetto and an epic rock climax, this mesmerizing love song is a hit to all listeners. As an emcee, Voltik has mastered the art of lyricism. His style of rhyming can best be described as a hybrid of graffiti and calligraphy. For overall sound think Andre 300/Busta Rhymes/ Gnarls Barkley/Santigold…on acid. In the song “Higher,” he cleverly catches listeners off guard. Combined with heavily distorted synth chords and a powerhouse funk drum beat, Johnny wails like an angelic banchi screaming “I’ll get you Higher baby!!!” then collapses to the ground covered in fog only seen through a strobe light blinking 4 times per second.

After climbing back to his feet for his verse, Voltik somehow brings listeners back to earth with lyrics that sit comfortably in the pocket of the track; “Higher than the kush give the crowd a psshh! Higher then a new born out the bushhh!” His onstage performance is truly a live spectacle. Accompanied with live musicians Damon Stowers (drums), Rian Wilkinson (keys/horns), Kira ‘Lady K’ Huseby (backup Vocals), and DJ Enki of ‘Raye 6’ and ‘MyM.O’. (turn tables), together they wield an energy unmatched by the average headliner. Within the first 2 years of his career as a musician in Boston, he was nominated with III KINGS in Nemo’s Music Awards for best world music group 2 years in a row. He has had the liberty of sharing stages with artists such as: N.E.R.D., BUSTA RYHMES, THE ROOTS, DAMIEN MARLEY, TALIB KWELI, SPEARHEAD, ISRAEL VIBRATION, BLACKMOON and many more…
